Residents within the state of recent Jersey has been spoiled in the case of the liberation of casino gambling, and now it seems that regulators in New Jersey are preparing to provide residents an additional treat this Thanksgiving.
On Monday, regulators announced that they were still on pace to hit their target date of November 26th to launch the states first online casino. The date, just two days before Thanksgiving, will give residents something to seem forward to while they digest their Thanksgiving meals.
The biggest winners within the expansion of online gambling in New Jersey would be the struggling Atlantic City casinos. The AC casinos haven't rebounded from the 2008 economic recession, and are waiting for taking their brands online.
"If New Jersey can meet that November 26th deadline, it will provide an enormous boost for Atlantic City casinos," said analyst Neal Sommerson. "Heading right into a holiday weekend with a brand new product to provide the millions of residents as a way to be home on vacation, should provide casinos with a tight opportunity to position up strong revenue numbers out of the gate."
New jersey is one among three states that experience created online gambling regulation laws during the last two years. Nevada has already launched their first online casino in BETA mode, with a difficult opening of alternative casinos expected to return within the following couple of weeks. Delaware has also regulated the industry.
Lawmakers in New Jersey and Nevada have left the door open for pooling their players should federal laws change. Currently, there are not any federal online gambling regulations. Legislators has been pushing for law changes on the federal level before too many states authorize the activity on their own, leaving the government with no piece of the gambling revenue generated in these states.
