It’s still among the best in the country, but Pennsylvania’s casino industry contracted by 1.44 percent in 2014 compared to 2013, state officials announced publicly this week.

It’s the second-straight year that Pennsylvania casino revenues have dropped year-over year. Gaming revenue for 2014 was just over $3 billion. Not long ago, Pennsylvania overtook neighboring Atlantic City.

The state has 12 casinos. Late last year, Pennsylvania regulators approved a new casino for Philadelphia. Litigation is going to delay construction of it, though.

Before 2013, the state had seen six straight years of year-over-year growth.

A total of $750 million came from table games last year, while slots accounted for $2.3 billion.

Pennsylvania is the number two commercial gaming market in the U.S. behind Nevada, but California is larger than Pennsylvania if you factor in California’s huge tribal gaming industry.
