EPT12 Malta: Remember the time?ALL COUNTRIES CAN PLAY @ ATLANTIS GOLD CASINO!

Scott Seiver: Story-teller

The familiar, scornful observation about high buy-in events is that they feature the same handful of players sharing what amounts to the same bundle of money between them. Certainly the concentration of familiar faces is higher than in "normal" tournaments, but the very fact that some of the sharpest minds in the game continue to play High Rollers would suggest that there's a little bit more to it than financial pass-the-parcel.

The table that has drawn the most interest in the early stages today features Mike McDonald, Scott Seiver, Adrian Mateos and Vladmir Troyanovskiy, who must have played against one another on numerous occasions. They have certainly each taken a few parcels in their time, with Seiver still the highest earner from Super High Roller events under the EPT/PCA banner.

(They also have Christopher Frank and Quan Zhou with them today, whose games are possibly less well known. But action seems to be brisk and mental notes will likely be made fairly quickly.)

Within the first five or ten minutes of the second level of the day, Dan Smith also came to join this table. Smith too is a high buy-in regular, with brilliant success at all levels. He too shares long history with his new table-mates, having jousted with them in similar events for at least five years.

Even if they didn't share a history, Seiver was certainly intent on filling in Smith with the details of how things have gone this afternoon. In response to Smith's opening "Hello", Seiver came straight in with, "So far, I have three bet four times and four bet twice and tripple-potted the river three times."

McDonald revealed that he too had been keeping tally on Seiver's blunderbuss approach, questioning whether the number of four bets was accurate. (Seiver assured him that it was.) And then Seiver talked Smith through the action again, just to make sure he knew what he was getting into. He was essentially handing Smith a hand-history transcript of the highlights from the previous hour.

This is the thing: despite loud conversation or total silence, whether they are apparently fixed on the table or on their smartphone, players pay a great deal of attention to what's going on. Or, at least, the good ones do.

Conversation then shifted to the final table of the EPT Grand Final Main Event, the tournament from which Mateos emerged clutching a €1.1 million winner's cheque. Seiver again led the narrative, and again proved that Seiver had been keeping an eye on the activities of his opponents.

adrian_mateos_ept12_malta_day1.jpg

Adrian Mateos: Centre of the attention

The conversation quickly focused on the hand that Mateos played against Johnny Lodden when they were four handed. This was the hand in which Mateos bluffed all in with jack-high and Lodden very nearly called with pocket fives, clearly thinking (knowing, even) that he was ahead.

Lodden didn't call, Mateos won the hand and then the tournament.

"Perhaps you want to tell it," Seiver said to Mateos, but the Spanish champion seemed content enough to allow Seiver to do the honours. And Seiver did a very good job of it, only getting some very small details wrong. (In Seiver's retelling, Lodden had fours rather than fives, but it was essentially the same thing.)

I don't know what the sub-text was here or, indeed, whether there even was one. However, by the time the re-telling was done, everybody at the table clearly knew that Mateos was capable of ripping it in with jack high, regardless of the stakes or the gravity of the situation. ("It was the final table of the Grand Final!" Seiver made clear.)

Furthermore everybody was also clear that Seiver did his homework. There was a high chance he'd been watching when McDonald and Troyanovskiy had got out of line too.

To bring everybody up to scratch on the Lodden/Mateos hand, here it is in all its glory. And here's Lee Jones's take on the affair.

Everything about EPT Malta is on the main EPT Malta page. More specifically, all the hand-by-hand coverage of the €25,000 High Roller is on the €25,000 High Roller page and everything from the IPT Main Event is on the IPT Main Event page.

P1 Million: Third Edition of the P1M Gtd at PokerStars Live ManilaALL COUNTRIES CAN PLAY @ ATLANTIS GOLD CASINO!
panthercasino.com sport betting and casino

We are back at the PokerStars Live Manila poker room at City of Dreams Manila awaiting the start of day 1a of the P1 Million Guarantee Main Event. This will be the third and last edition of this event for the year. Buy-in for the event is P5,000. This is a re-entry tournament so players can get back in the game if they find themselves on the rail early. Players should be happy to know that in addition to the first place cash prize, a P100,000 Macau Poker Cup package will be awarded to the eventual winner.

_DSC0154.jpg
The previous P1 Million Guarantee Main Event winners were Rey Concepcion (May) and Wally Sombero (July), well-known poker veterans from the Philippines. Let's see if they will make their way to the felt today to try to bag another one.

The P1 Million Guarantee series began two days ago with a P200,000 NLH side event. There were a total of 168 entries with fifteen of them seeing the money. By the end of the night, it was heads up between two local players, David Erquiaga and Danilo Munoz, after Ka Cheong Wong from Hong Kong was eliminated in third place. Erquiaga would eventually get the best of Munoz to claim the first win of the series and the PHP70,500.

Last night saw another local winner, Alvir Innocentes. Innocentes bested a field of 123 entries at the P300,000 NLH side event and took home the PHP78,000 first place cash prize.

Among those who made the money in the first two events, local player Antonio Abesamis was running hot and impressively saw a profit in both. Abesamis placed 7th in the first event and 5th in the second event. We will surely keep an eye on him if he attends the main event today.

Another player seeing the money this series was King Lun "Alan" Lau (Hong Kong) who is currently in second position at the Asia Player of the Year 2015 leader board. Only a very small margin of points separates him and first position player Ka Cheong Wong (Hong Kong). Fourth position player Yang Zhang (China) also cashed, however fifth position player Pete Chen, from Chinese Taipei, was not so fortunate.

We will be posting updates of some of the action throughout the day so stay tuned!

Good luck to all the players!

Lawsuit Accuses Online Poker Room Full Tilt of Basing in USALL COUNTRIES CAN PLAY @ ATLANTIS GOLD CASINO!
panthercasino.com sport betting and casino

Full Tilt, one of the most popular Internet poker operators, is being sued in California for supposedly using software bots disguised as players to win hands on the site, and for accusing legitimate players of operating as bots themselves.

Play Now at Slots Oasis! An online poker player has filed a lawsuit against operator Full Tilt, in which the company is accused of being controlled from within the US and using software to control hand results. Lary Kennedy, a Full Tilt patron, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court against the company and pro players Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey, and Chris "Jesus" Ferguson.

Since the scandals at Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet, online gambling customers have been worried about software manipulation of Internet games. Kennedy alleges that bots are playing hands at Full Tilt with the knowledge and participation of the poker site.

Kennedy also says that Full Tilt has used a zero-tolerance policy instituted after the cheating scandals at the other poker rooms to accuse legitimate players of being bots, and seizing their money. Kennedy says this happened both to her and other players.

The pros are included in the suit because they are named on the site as having contributed to Full Tilt's design, and Kennedy says they are the controlling force behind the popular online poker room.

Full Tilt has asserted that it is regulated by the Kahanwake Gaming Commission, on Indian land in Canada.

Sunday Million II: Van Razor swiftly slices up field, earns $177KALL COUNTRIES CAN PLAY @ ATLANTIS GOLD CASINO!

^

Sunday's "Double Vision" promotion meant a second Sunday Million was added this week, meaning players had an extra chance at PokerStars' popular $215 no-limit hold'em tournament with the $1 million guarantee. The Sunday Million II started a half-hour later than the regular Sunday Million, but actually ended a few minutes before its counterpart thanks to a blindingly fast final table that saw Van Razor of Canada plow through a tableful of opponents to capture the title and $177,235.18 first prize.

Van Razor earned the largest share of the tourney's guarantee-busting $1,133,200 prize pool, created by the 5,666 who entered the Sunday Million II. The top 810 finishers made the cash, with it taking almost five hours for that money bubble to burst.

Team PokerStars Pro Leo Margets was among those just missing the money when she was eliminated in 822nd. Meanwhile, Andre "acoimbra" Coimbra of Team Online was more fortunate to last a bit longer to finish 763rd for a $328.62 cash. Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov also got that far and more, lasting all of the way to 411th to take away $430.61, with his teammates Martin "AABenjaminAA" Hruby (317th, $487.27) and Naoya "nkeyno" Kihara (141st, $849.90) likewise making a profit in this one.

It would ultimately take about nine-and-a-half hours for the field to be whittled down to just 18 players gathered around the final two tables, at which point knif1807 and 77kol0bok77 were battling for the chip lead with both hovering around the 6.8 million-chip mark.

Krazy90 (18th), Muntjesvader (17th), and CuAt69UsdSng (16th) were the next to go, each earning $3,342.94 for their efforts. AKLJ90 (15th), Jannick "EDWARDHOPPER" Wrang (14th), and Ravic85 (13th) took away $5,042.74 apiece. And Pinocchyo (12th), CredeExperto (11th), and batcashaut (10th) each saw an additional $6,742.54 in their PokerStars upon their eliminations.

With Van Razor having pushed into the chip lead with more than 9.7 million, and 10/6/13 Sunday Million winner Runninggreat not far behind with almost 8.9 million, the final table was underway.

1dec13-sundaymillionII-finaltable.jpg

Seat 1: PIPI tapis! (Malta) -- 6,864,790
Seat 2: Van Razor (Canada) -- 9,753,776
Seat 3: loupeznik10 (Czech Republic) -- 6,266,469
Seat 4: Mzo. (Sweden) -- 6,356,096
Seat 5: 77kol0bok77 (Russia) -- 6,487,250
Seat 6: knif1807 (Germany) -- 7,315,800
Seat 7: bmky88 (Singapore) -- 1,502,563
Seat 8: _mauser_658 (Lithuania) -- 3,223,094
Seat 9: Runninggreat (Canada) -- 8,890,162

It took a little less than one orbit for the first elimination of the final table to occur.

The blinds were 125,000/250,000 when bmky88 open-pushed for 1,037,563 from middle position and got a single caller in Mzo. in the big blind. bmky88 had [Kc][Qh] and Mzo. [Ad][7s]. The flop came a startling [9d][9h][9s], then the [2d] and [8h] less dramatically followed to send bmky88 out in ninth.

Next to go was _mauser_658 in eighth after losing a preflop all-in confrontation with Runninggreat.

The blinds had hiked up to 150,000/300,000 when _mauser_658 opened with a shove for 1,943,094 from the button and Runninggreat called from the small blind. It was [Jc][Td] for _mauser_658 and [As][7s] for Runninggreat. The board ran out [8c][2h][5c][Kc][8d], and they were down to seven.

Shortly after that the blinds were 200,000/400,000 when Van Razor opened with a raise to 1 million from the button, then loupeznik10 reraised to 3.2 million from the small blind. It folded back to Van Razor who reraised again to 5.4 million, and loupeznik10 called with the 553,581 left behind.

loupeznik10 had [Ad][Qd] and was hoping to improve against the [3d][3s] of Van Razor, but the flop fell [5d][7s][3h] to give the latter a set, and by the [Jh] turn loupeznik was drawing dead to earn a seventh-place finish.

The final six players played another 15 minutes to make it to the 11-hour break with Van Razor having a commanding lead with more than 21 million, nearly three times what anyone else had at that moment. When they returned five minutes later, a blitzkrieg of bustouts rapidly followed, with Van Razor knocking out all five opponents in the next six minutes, needing just a dozen more hands to finish the tournament!

The first three knockouts happened during Level 39, when the blinds were still 200,000/400,000 with a 40,000 ante.

First it was 77kol0bok77 open-pushing from under the gun for 4,373,650 with [7d][7h] and Van Razor calling from the small blind with [As][Kc]. The board came [Ts][4s][6s][9h][7s], adding up to a set of sevens for 77kol0bok77 but a spade flush for Van Razor, thereby ending 77kol0bok77's run in sixth.

Five hands later, Van Razor opened for 980,000 from the small blind and Mzo. called from the big blind. As PIPI tapis! was asking the others about possibly discussing a deal, the flop came [Ac][3h][Jd], Van Razor checked, Mzo. bet 1.2 million, Van Razor raised to 6.8 million, and Mzo. called all in with the 5,511,547 left.

Mzo. showed [Ad][6d] for top pair of aces, but Van Razor had flopped bottom two pair with [Jh][3s]. The turn was the [Tc] and river the [4s], and they were down to four.

Three hands after that it was Runninggreat raising to 1.56 million from the button, then Van Razor reraising to 5.04 million from the big blind and Runningreat calling all in with the 3,144,256 left.

Runninggreat had [As][Tc] but needed help against Van Razor's [Th][Td]. The board came [2d][7h][Kh], then [5s], then [Kc], and Van Razor had claimed another victim to carve the field to three. Still, it was another great finish for Runninggreat who added a fourth to that first-place showing in the Sunday Million two months ago.

Two hands later they had reached Level 40 and the blinds had moved up to 250,000/500,000 when Van Razor raised to 1.1 million from the button, knif1807 reraised all in for 5,527,200 from the small blind, PIPI tapis! folded the big blind, and Van Razor called.

Van Razor was the one behind this time with [Ks][Js] against knif1807's [Ac][6s]. But the [2s][Ts][Kh] flop soon corrected that, giving Van Razor top pair of kings plus a flush draw. The turn was the [9c] and river the [5c], and they were down to two.

Heads-up play would then last but one hand, with Van Razor completing the sequence of busts to claim the title in breathtakingly quick fashion.

The hand began with Van Razor way up to 49,175,210, about six-and-a-half times the 7,484,790 that PIPI tapis! had. The latter opened with a 2x raise to 1 million from the button, then Van Razor reraised to 3.5 million. PIPI tapis! pushed for 7,434,790, and Van Razor called.

Van Razor: [Ad][5d]
PIPI tapis!: [8c][8d]

The flop came [6s][7s][As] and just like that Van Razor was in front yet again, with PIPI tapis! looking for one of the two remaining eights to survive. The turn was the [Jh] and the river the [Ac], improving Van Razor further to trips and bringing an abrupt end to the Sunday Million II.

Congratulations to Van Razor who carried the chip lead to the final table, then following the first two knockouts swiftly wiped out the rest of the table to claim one of two Sunday Million titles being awarded tonight!
