Not everyone was upset last month when the U.S. Department of Justice came down hard on three of the highest online poker sites on the planet. Land-based and online casinos were the beneficiaries of that gaming bust.

The DoJ issued an indictment against PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and Absolute Poker. Executives from all of the companies were also charged within the indictment, and when news of the indictment spread, poker players around the globe were concerned.

It was not just US players that were upset with the elimination of online poker players within the country, but in addition players in foreign countries that now had less opponents were upset. Lots of them have moved their focus from poker to slots and other games.

Online casinos have always been popular within the UK and in other countries where the net gambling industry is regulated. With attendance down in online poker rooms, gamblers began to join slot tournaments to get their fix.

"I usually commute between poker and slots every couple of weeks," said Martin Blanc. "But finally that stuff happened over within the US, I DETERMINED to only stick with the slots for some time. Maybe at some point I'll return to poker, but for now the slots have my attention."

Online poker enthusiasts within the US aren't completely not noted within the cold. Dozens of online casinos still accept US players, and while it should not be the live player versus player action, the net casinos do offer various poker games that may be played against the house.
