Consortium led by GTECH Canada receives $5 million to develop cross-channel gaming platform

062714 GTR GTECH Consotium annoncement 300The province of latest Brunswick has awarded a consortium led by GTECH Canada ULC with a five-year, C$5 million research grant for the improvement of a brand new multi-channel content application platform. The consortium, made from GTECH Canada, T4G, New Brunswick Community College and primary Mobile Education, will develop a technology platform to deliver game content and lines across a broad range of mobile and web-based devices and land-based gaming machines.

“Mobile is the fastest-growing component within the interactive gaming segment, and this platform will enable GTECH to supply gaming operators around the globe with innovative game content and lines across new and existing channels, and cross-channel analytics so that it will provide operators with a single view of the player,” said Don Doucet, vp of commercial strategy and development in Canada for GTECH. “Thanks to the support of the provincial government and our partners in industry and education, this platform will represent a made-in-New Brunswick way to our global gaming customers’ needs.”

Funding for the project is being provided throughout the province’s $15 million Industry Innovation Challenge. Launched last October, the brand new Brunswick Research and Innovation Council unveiled a provincial competition designed to spot large-scale industry research and development initiatives so that they can mobilize provincial assets to fuel economic growth. The challenge awarded the highest innovative groups with a $5 million grant to develop their proposal.

As a part of the project, GTECH Canada will establish an Interactive game development team in Moncton while leveraging in-house experience in new game development for interactive games and providing synergies with land-based and interactive game content development. The team will work to develop cross-channel games and functionalities, and can utilize T4G’s analytics platform with a purpose to combine performance measures of single game titles across multiple channels, in addition to compare player behavior and player segmentation.

T4G has greater than 20 years of information analytics experience; First Mobile Education develops Internet learning courses for industries and K-12 students; and New Brunswick Community College has a laboratory and full-time research staff to help with testing and experimentation. GTECH Canada will even work with local companies and academic institutions akin to BMM Testlabs, GLI Testlabs Canada, McKenzie College, and the University of recent Brunswick.
