FloridaThe state of Florida appears poised to become the following state to manage online poker. With New Jersey lawmakers already legalizing full online casino gambling, Florida legislators are discussing taking step one towards that goal.
This week, legislators amped up efforts to manage online poker. The law being proposed would allow pari-mutuel facilities within the state to supply online poker to its customers through a third-party hub. If that occurs, the pari-mutuels can be on better financial footing to compete with Indian casinos within the state.
Pari-mutuel owners has been lobbying lawmakers to even the playing field between themselves and tribal casinos. The Seminole Tribe runs the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood and another major facility on Tampa. To be able to compete with the Seminoles, the pari-mutuels have already been given some perks this past year.
Legislators agreed to lower the tax rate on pari-mutuel gambling, and in addition gave the facilities the fitting to function their poker site for longer hours. Those changes were aimed toward helping the pari-mutuels at a time when the Seminoles were winning the best to supply blackjack at their casinos.
If lawmakers and Governor Rick Scott approve the net poker legislation being crafted, the Seminoles would, in essence, win the correct to provide Internet poker besides. The Seminoles are allowed to supply any form of casino gambling that may be legal within the state.
