The clock struck 10pm here in the King's Casino and that signalled the opening of the second chance saloon for all those players who'd busted a bullet on either Day 1A or 1B.
The general consensus amongst players who decided to enter the turbo Day 1C was that it was a great idea. A total of 342 players busted through Day 1A&B meaning close to 40% (135) decided to re-enter the turbo third flight. That's a pretty significant percentage especially considering that 74 players busted Day 1A all the way back on Saturday.
After 11, 20-minute levels Michal Mrakes was the happiest of the lot after amassing 134,100.
He leads other big stacks through that include:
Robert Wilke - 115,400
Karel Kratochvil - 108,200
Tobias Peters - 102,400
Markus Dunegger -100,700.
Also through are Martin Mulsow (79,900), Martin Kabrhel (72,300), Adam Owen (53,800), Team PokerStars Pro Christophe De Meulder (48,700), Martin Meciar (44,400) and Zoltan Gal (34,600).
Mrakes was actually looking to break through the 200k-mark but lost nearly 40k off his stack in the dying moments of the days. He was in a battle of the blinds versus Uwe Mauerhoff and 37,000 had made it into the middle by the time the board rested as [ac][9c][4h][th][ah]. Both players had checked the turn before Mauerhoff led for 19,000 on the river. Uwe Mauerhofft took his time, called, and mucked upon seeing [ad][qc] for trip aces.
Having a turbo structure meant a lot of players busted throughout the four hours of play. Some players out of the Main Event for good now include: Sabina Hiatullah, Christian Christner, Besim Hot, Salih Özdemir, Jakub Mroczek, Heinz Kamutzik, Giuliano Ruggieri, Marcin Chmielwki, Jan George, Pius Heinz along with Team PokerStars Pros Matthias De Meulder and George Danzer.
That's it for all starting flights. The tournament proper starts tomorrow from 2pm CET where all 255 remaining players have the chance to face off against each other. The powers that be will figure out the prizepool overnight and all the payout information will be posted on the blog tomorrow. For now, it's goodnight from somewhere in the Czech Republic.
