When online success translates into the real world, it's a little like crossing the fourth wall. Suddenly they're no longer a character seen on a screen. Instead, stepping out from behind a computer somewhere, they become real people - still a username perhaps - but real nonetheless.

That was the case with Yuri "theNERDguy" Martins this weekend.

Martins, whose username regularly crops up in the weekly results digest, was in Brazil this past week for the LAPT Grand Final. As if with his head down with a mouse in his hand, he took control of the final table in thrived to win the season finale, and a first prize of R$652,509. As Martin Harris reported from the scene, it was a resounding win. Read his final report here, which includes links to coverage from the entire event.

Back where Martins would normally be operating, it was Fahredin "FeriBo" Mustafov taking honours in the Sunday Million. As Kristin Bihr reported, the Bulgarian made it a wire to wire finish at the final table, resulting in a first prize of more than $178,000.

Elsewhere OpenOren did something similar in the Sunday Warm-up. As David Aydt reported, he led from the start of the final table, and finished it that way, picking up a first prize of $80,833.

We're now just a week away from the EPT Prague festival. It'll be cold and busy, which is just as we like it, and there will be the usual coverage here on the PokerStars blog.

That coverage starts on Saturday when the Eureka Poker Tour Main Event gets started. As far as undercards go it's a good one. Being in easy reach of most of central Europe Prague attracts big fields, and big prize pools.
Then there are the events themselves.

The €50,000 Super High roller which starts December 8; the €2,000 Eureka High Roller follows on December 9; before the €5,000 Main Event begins on December 10.

Then on December 11 the €25,000 Single High Roller starts, with the last of the feature events, the €10,000 High Roller, starting on December 14, with the festival wrapped up two days later.

It all takes place at the Prague Hilton. There's also something about Prague in December that turns defeat into a least or victory for your mood. Those not cheered by this should proceed immediately to the mulled wine.

Talking of the holiday season

But it doesn't take a trip to Prague to get into the festive spirit. The PokerStars Christmas Festival, with $10 million in prizes to be given away before the end of the year, will usher it in for you. What's more this seasonal celebration will cap off the year with a $5 million guaranteed Sunday Million on December 27, featuring a minimum $500,000 for first place.

Before that there's our Christmas Calendar, or, an advent calendar with cash prizes.
