The $1,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em event on the 2016 World Series of Poker featured 2,242 entrants, generating a prize pool of $2,017,800. After three days of play, the bracelet and the $316,920 first-place prize went to 28-year-old poker pro Chase Bianchi.
This was not just Bianchi’s first bracelet, but additionally his first final table appearance and primary cash on the WSOP. The Columbia, Maryland resident does have a large number of WSOP Circuit experience, however, and frequently live streams his poker play on Twitch.
“This is among the last ones I USED TO BE playing," said Bianchi. "I’ve been out here for approximately two weeks. I'VE a flight booked for tomorrow afternoon. Couldn’t have written it any better.”
The final table featured notables in Roberto Romanello (3rd) and Christopher Leong (9th). Other players to make deep runs within the event included Danny Wong (14th), James Mackey (15th), Jeff Gross (23rd), Mike Telker (26th), Dan Weinman (28th), Tom Dobrilovic (29th) and Steve Gee (45th).
