LAPT8 Chile: Schafer setting the pace with 11 left

They've played through another hour at the LAPT Chile Main Event, during which the field reduced from 15 to 11. Claudio Schafer of Chile remains the pace-setter at the moment, having maintained his stack of 1.1 million during the last level.

An American living and playing online in Costa Rica, Tyler Noyes picked up a first five-figure live score today. In his final hand, the man from Massachusetts committed his last 220,000 with A♥T♥ versus Rodrigo Quezada's J♠J♣, and with no improvement fell in 15th ($10,940).

Just as Noyes was going out, Arturo Longton of Chile ran K♠Q♦ into Claudio Schafer's A♦K♠ to lose the last of his short stack and finish 14th ($10,940).

A little later Jonathan Markovits saw his LAPT Chile Main Event run end after his A♠7♦ failed him against Fabian Chauriye's Q♠Q♦.

Hailing from Ecuador, Markovits has an LAPT final table to his credit, having finished fifth in the Grand Final at Sao Paulo in Season 4. Here his end came a bit shy of that mark after he was knocked out in 13th ($12,400).

Then just before the level ended and the day's second break began, Juan Grinspun of Chile took A♣9♥ and a short stack up against Schafer's pair of nines, and five cards later was out in 12th ($12,400).

Among the final 11 still are two former LAPT Main Event winners -- LAPT7 Peru Grand Final winner Oscar Alache and Nacho Barbero who won back-to-back LAPTs in Season 4.

Those two are sitting side-by-side at the feature table at present, where Alache has about 780,000 and Barbero 480,000. Watch them on LAPT Live.
