The L. a. Dodgers have spent extra money over the last few years on player personnel than any team in baseball not named the Yankees. The Dodgers have prepare an all-star pitching staff, and a powerful offensive unit.
All in their labor within the off-season has resulted in the Dodgers being the betting favorites heading into the season. La has 11/2 odds to win the sector Series. With two-time ERA champion Clayton Kershaw leading the Dodgers staff, many analysts have predicted the team will finally win it all.
Behind the Dodgers sit the Detroit Tigers. Detroit also has a pitching staff that analysts are raving about. Max Scherzer won the yank League Cy Young award last season, and Justin Verlander has two Cy Young trophies to his credit.
The Tigers moved Prince Fielder within the off-season, and can now move Miguel Cabrera back to first base to make room for Nick Castellanos at third. Castellanos is likely one of the top prospects in baseball, and adds an offensive punch for the Tigers. Detroit has odds of 8/1 to win it all.
St. Louis, a team always near the highest of the betting odds, is the third choice at 9/1. The Cardinals return a pitching-heavy squad, with enough offense to win the NL Central last season.
Washington added Doug Fister to an already impressive staff, and the Fister addition puts the Nationals because the fourth choice, at 12/1. The Yankees, who even have odds of 12/1, have made one of the most biggest splashes in free agency, picking up Brian McCann, Carlos Beltran, and a number of other key starters for the 2014 season.
For folks who enjoy taking a possibility at the long shots, the betting odds provide several options. The Astros are the longest of shots at 250/1, while the Twins, Cubs, and Marlins all sit at 125/1.
