Nevada’s gaming industry won $861 million from gamblers through the month of August, in line with figures released Thursday by the state Gaming Control Board.

That figure was five-percent lower than the cash won in the course of the same month last year. The drop was way to the Strip’s performance, where revenue fell to $450 million, a 15-percent drop year-over-year.

Several other regions of the state either grew or remained flat, however the Strip is where Nevada’s fortunes are decided. Greater than 1/2 state gaming revenue is generated there.

On the $861 million, Nevada collected nearly $50 million in taxes, the state said.

Nevada casinos won $11.1 billion from gamblers in 2015, which was a small uptick in comparison to 2014 but a tiny drop in comparison to 2013. The all time best year for Nevada’s gaming industry was the $12.8 billion won in 2007, the year before the nice Recession.

The low for the period after the nice Recession was the $10.4 billion won in 2009 and 2010.

The Silver State has roughly 330 casinos. In line with the University of Nevada Las Vegas, there are about 150,000 slot machines and 6,000 table games statewide.
