The final three players returned from their agreed-upon break to play out the top of Level 30 (50,000/100,000/10,000), the time spent discussing a potential deal but ultimately deciding against doing so.
They played out the top of the level, with Backmann winning many of the hands before Campodonico grabbed the last pot to move to the scheduled break with a couple of more chips though still well behind the Mexican:

Level 31 began (60,000/120,000/20,000) with continued cautious play, including a couple of three-way hands between the players A (Alache), B (Backmann), and C (Campodonico). One had potential for some drama, with Campodonico and Alache both making two pair by the turn, however the river put an eight-high straight at the board and so they chopped a modest pot. Alache then picked up a pair more to push up with regards to 3.7 million -- about half Backmann's stack.
About halfway during the level a three-way limped pot arose by which the flop came 2♦2♠4♠, Backmann bet 220,000 from the small blind, and both Alache (big blind) and Campodonico (button) called. The turn was the 8♥, and this time Backmann bet 375,000. Alache raised to 1,040,000, Campodonico stepped aside, and Backmann called.
The river was the 9♦. Backmann checked this time, and when Alache shoved all in together with his last 2,295,000, Backmann tanked for several minutes before folding. That knocked Backmann all the way down to 5,965,000, brought Alache as much as 5,455,000, and left Campodonico with 2,455,000.
Campodonico then started to add a couple of to his stack in addition after a few all-in pushes earned folds, and shortly it had become more of an excellent battle between the three.
But Backmann soon gathered chips back from both opponents -- particularly Alache -- and as they moved into Level 32 had edged back up over 8 million.
That's when a hand arose that saw Alache open-raise all in from the small blind for 2,065,000 and Campodonico call from the massive blind. Alache had T♥9♦ while Campodonico had woken up with A♣K♦, however the 9♠4♥7♠8♥5♦ runout favored the Chilean and so they remain three-handed.
