The 2016 Card Player Poker Tour St. Maarten $1,100 no-limit hold’em main event, hosted by Card Player Cruises, is about to kick off tomorrow on the spectacular, all-inclusive Sonesta Maho Beach Resort. The $100,000 guaranteed event will run May 13 – 15 on the Casino Royale, with play set to get underway at 1:30 PM local time on Friday. The overall day will happen on Sunday, when the remainder players will play on until the following CPPT main event champion is decided.
The inaugural CPPT St. Maarten main event last year drew a field of 138 entries for a $1,650 buy-in tournament, surpassing the $200,000 guarantee. In spite of everything Enrici Christophe emerged victorious, creating a deal three-handed that saw Chistophe take home the trophy, the title and $37,950. Paul and Fair each took home $31,000 with second place going to Paul as he had more chips than Fair.
Card Player’s own Allyn Shulman finished fifth for $11,850, bringing her all-time CPPT winnings to over $326,000. Shulman was the lone former CPPT champion within the tournament, having won the CPPT Venetian Deepstacks $5,000 main event in 2013. Day 1A chip leader Mark Stephen Edwards finished ninth, while Day 1B chipleader Mark Gregorich finished eighth.
In the video below Card Player TV brings you a recap of the overall table of last year’s main event, in addition to a glance on the beautiful accommodations you’ll find on the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and the exciting action on the Casino Royale.
