As state lawmakers are eyeing a takeover of its finances, struggling Atlantic City, which might also soon lose its casino gambling monopoly in New Jersey, has a brand new plan to assist turn things around.
It involves booze.
Atlantic City has $550 million worth of debt and a $100 million budget deficit.
The City Council of Atlantic City will vote Wednesday on whether to permit people at the boardwalk to hold around open plastic containers of alcohol, consistent with a report from the Associated Press.
The law change would stipulate that the alcohol was purchased from licensed businesses adjacent to the boardwalk. A TRIBULATION period will happen this summer if the town Council approves the ordinance.
The policy is meant to “facilitate and inspire pedestrian traffic,” in step with a report from Press of Atlantic City.
