The largest pot of 2016 remains a $236,000 no-limit hold’em hand played in late January. It pitted “Trueteller” against Educa-p0ker.

In the hand, Trueteller held the 8Diamond Suit 7Diamond Suit against his opponent’s K-Q offsuit. Trueteller limped in from the small blind along with his suited connectors, and Educa-p0ker decided to lift to $1,400 with the 2 face cards. Trueteller made a fascinating play by deciding to three-bet to $5,800. Educa-p0ker elected to name and notice a flop in position.

The flop fell JSpade Suit 10Club Suit 6Diamond Suit, and Trueteller bet $5,600 with only a gut-shot and a backdoor flush draw. Educa-p0ker called along with his open-ended straight draw and two overs.

The turn was the 3Diamond Suit, giving Trueteller the flush draw, though Educa-p0ker was still ahead within the hand with K-high. Trueteller bet nearly $17,000, and Educa-p0ker called.

The river 9Diamond Suit was basically the very best card for Trueteller. It gave him the backdoor flush and in addition completed his opponent’s straight draw.

Trueteller put Educa-p0ker all-in for $90,000, and the bet was called. Trueteller turned over his winning hand to take the pot.
